19. Jeff and Aaron Zierdt of Lupulin Brewing
Aaron dives into the passion behind the Scribbled Lines sour program. They discuss its relation to Lupulin and the separation of the brand and facilities. It's a critical part of exploring their passion while expanding their portfolio of beers to offer something for everyone.
Of course, interviewing a brewery in 2020 can't happen without COVID-19 coming up. The group talk about the innovation it has forced on the brewery and the permanent changes they've seen for themselves and their patrons. Scrappy forces came together to drive creative solutions that kept the doors open – all while treating their customers and employees right.
It ends by talking about the desire to give back to the community that has given them so much. This includes their Pours for a Purpose program which donates to a different organization every month by setting aside a dollar a beer every Thursday. They transition into discussing their Black is Beautiful beer and the movement initiated by Weathered Souls Brewing. They worked with their suppliers to drive down the cost of the beer to ensure their promise of donating 100% of their proceeds provided the most bang for the back to Voices for Racial Justice and the Brewing Change Collaborative.
